How to import data from excel and text files to Spotfire!!!

Spotfire is used to process data coming from various kind of data sources as mentioned below:  

• Data from clipboard

• Text Files

• Excel Files

• SAS Files

• Database

• Nielsen Answers

• Information Link

Importing data from text file: 

By using this feature we import data from delimited text files (csv) or text files into Spotfire.

Steps:

1.     Select File > Open... or click on open button on toolbar.

2.     Browse to the required text or csv file and click Open.

3.     Check columns for their datatype in Data Preview to make sure data is in correct format.

4.     Modify Import Setting if necessary to get desired result.

5.     Click on Refresh in case you change import setting.

6.     Once you performed all above step and data is ready in your desired format then click OK.

Importing data from Excel file:

By using this feature we import data from Microsoft Excel files.

Steps:

1.     Select File > Open... or click on open button on toolbar.

2.     Browse to the required Excel file and click Open.

3.     Select the Excel Worksheet to import.

4.     Check columns for their datatype in Data Preview to make sure data is in correct format.

5.     Modify Import Setting if necessary to get desired result.

6.     Click on Refresh in case you change import setting.

7.     Once you performed all above step and data is ready in your desired format then click OK.
